The Saturday, October 12, 2024 event was a real endurance challenge for most Trump supporters. I was there at Calhoun Ranch on the outskirts of Coachella and Indio in California and this post describes what it is really like to go to one of these events in the blazing desert heat.
They opened the three parking lots at 3 A.M. A line was coming off the freeway to be let in. We all waited in the dark, and the line to board the shuttle buses became super huge and wrapped around the lot. Around 9 A.M., the buses finally took us over to the ranch which was surrounded by date palm tree farms.
The heat in the line at the ranch was so bad a person with diabetes next to me passed out, and a paramedic had to come. They had ice buckets with plenty of water, and I don’t know what I’d do without them, but some people did not take advantage of them. A lady near me in line started to have a heat stroke. She became unresponsive, and sadly incontinent, and I told the medic to put ice on her carotenoid artery because it goes straight to the heart to chill all the blood. I dipped my empty water bottle into the melted ice water from the red buckets they had for us and poured ice water all over her, and on her neck and she came to. Thank God. Paramedics had to take her via ambulance to a hospital. God had me there for a reason I guess.
It seemed more organized than other events I’d been to because they had more lines to go through multiple metal detectors as the TSA checked us through. They almost did not let me bring my Trumpinator in, but I said he’d been to all the events, and then the security dude said okay, and I was allowed in with my “sidekick” Trumpinator bobblehead.
I got my seat and my ticket to get back in the front seating area, then I waited almost an hour to get lunch from a lunch truck, and I was maybe 10th in line, and that line behind me had like 60 people in it. It was crazy. There were so many food trucks, too, and all of them had huge lines and they all ran low on food there were so many hungry people. So, if you go to a Trump event, bring food or beef jerky and stuff to get by. Having a cup from buying an iced drink was excellent despite the high price, as I often filled it with ice and put it on my legs and neck to cool me off in the heat. It was about 101 degrees, and the event was not indoors. At least it wasn’t hotter than it was two weeks before; it got up to 114 out in the desert in that same area.
So, standing in all of the lines bus, rally entrance, and sitting there were these wasps everywhere! Big ones. I swatted them off people all day, but sadly, nobody swatted them off me, and the next day, I saw this massive welt on my back, and it started itching. I ended up in the ER not knowing what it was, and then when the nurse who was an expert in bug bites said something like a bee stung me, I knew what it was: it was those huge wasps. You can even see one in one of my videos crawling up the red white and blue banner infront of where Trump was speaking. The hospital tried to give me a drug used during the pandemic to calm down my immune system, but I refused it and went home and put Tamanu oil on it. I am so glad I had that in my medicine cabinet for bugs; it works. After four days, it finally started to calm down and was not as swollen. I decided not to share a picture of it here though because it was nasty, like almost the size of a quarter, but egg shaped. That was my free souvenir I guess. 😅
So the truth about the crowd size is that it seemed smaller than the crowd that filled Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, AZ, when RFK Jr. had the historic meeting with Trump. That arena holds 19,000 during rock concerts, and it was filled except for one area blocked off, probably by the fire marshall. So the news reported that there were 100K, but that can’t be right, I was there. I would say that the sitting area was huge, though, with stands that alone must’ve held over eight thousand. Behind that, there were huge buses blocking and big rigs surrounding the area to prevent another assassination attempt on Trump’s life. A massive lawn behind that was where people could watch on big screens. The bathrooms were a really far walk, which I thought was not a friendly venue for people with disabilities and seniors with canes and walkers.
The lineup of speakers was pretty good. Here are some of the speakers that spoke before Trump came on stage:
Chair of California Republican Party Jessica Patterson
Pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship Greg Laurie, who led the prayer
Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco
Former Miss California Leah Cecil, who sang the National Anthem
Lapson Luu, Bé Tí, Vietnamese-American for America First Organization
Media personality Dan Ball from OAN
Grant Cardone
Former State Senator Gloria Romero ex-Democrat
Former National Security Advisor, Robert C. O’Brien
Trump administration officials Former Ambassador to Germany and Director of National Intelligence, Ric Grenell and Former Chief of Staff to the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Kash Patel
Actor Dennis Quaid quoted Reagan as he recently played him in a movie
U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz
U.S. Rep. Ken Calvert of California
U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt
Trump Advisor Stephen Miller
Finally, when Trump came on stage to God Bless the U.S.A., the temperature started to dip into the 90s, which was an excellent relief. The crowd was so loud that it was hard to hear him at first, and they must’ve turned up the microphone. He braved the heat and wore a suit. The guy is tough. He wore his MAGA hat as the sun set and didn’t have sunglasses on. He said that California is Paradise Lost, but not to worry that his administration would bring it back. California has the highest crime, homelessness, inflation, and housing prices out of all the states. A heckler got called out by Trump, and like usual, whenever someone does this, he tells them to “Go home to mommy!” and they were dragged off by security for disrupting the event.
He noted that Kamala had been against the border fence, but now, all of a sudden, she says she’s for it, and he said she’s had four years to fix this problem after they sold off pieces of the wall and a lot of it is just sitting out in the desert in piles. He also says that he’ll end sanctuary states as California is one, and he said a sanctuary state means they harbor criminals, and that’s not good. He joked about taking foreign criminals into your homes. There was a dude in the audience dressed as Abraham Lincoln, whom I didn’t photograph, but Trump commented that he looked really good.
Trump said the number of migrant criminals was over 200,000 in the U.S. and talked about the horrors of Armed Venezuelans taking over apartments in Aurora, CO, and a bunch of other evil Venezuelan gang murders that happened in the U.S. Here is the commercial:
He went over all kinds of horrible evil crimes that the illegals had done, and it was hard to listen to. They were so sad.
He made the case against Kamala being a failure as a border czar and how dangerous it is. He said that he would institute Operation Aurora to deport all these criminal migrants.
He also called for the death penalty for any migrant who kills an American citizen or law enforcement officer.
DJT then said it is Kamala’s fault that there is no vetting of criminals, and even CNN interviewed a migrant who said they were an ex-con murderer, and then they were embarrassed because it didn’t fit their narrative.
Then it was funny because he talked about Biden falling asleep on the beach.
Then he mentioned that illegals are taking the jobs of regular Americans and putting us out of work.
He says now all the states are border states because they were flying in migrants all over the U.S.
It was also funny when he started telling the story about the Mexican President, who was a socialist, and how he said he wanted him to have Mexico pay for the Border wall and have soldiers defend the wall. He said to him we need 28,000 soldiers to protect the border and that the Mexican president said he would not do that, and he said yes, you will. The Mexican president said, “No way,” and Trump said in perfect Californian, “Way.” LOL. He said we have leverage, so he spoke to his negotiator, and then the crowd just spontaneously began shouting TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! He finished his story about how he’d put tariffs on all the cars and things and got his deal through, with soldiers protecting the border free of charge.
He said Kamala is turning California and the U.S. into third-world countries and talked about the damage she has been doing and how she wouldn’t do anything differently. He played a commercial that showed the horrors of her not doing anything, which was J.D. Vance’s idea. However, this commercial was more extended and mentioned all the horrible things that have happened. Here is the newer commercial:
The next part of the rally included much of what he’s said at other rallies, like No Tax on Tips, no Tax on car loans, other tax cuts, and how Kamala will raise taxes. Then he talked about Elon and J.D. You’ll have to watch the replay to catch it all.
At this point, I had to run to the bathroom, and the stupid Lamestream Media news sites said that people were leaving, which was not true. People were running to find the last coolers with ice cubes as they were running low on ice, going to the tents for bottled water to stay hydrated, running to the bathrooms, and still standing in food lines. This event was challenging to do in the desert heat!
He also called out those in the audience, like Darrel Issa from my old congressional district in East San Diego, Indian Tribes, the other politicians, actors, speakers, and the family that owns the ranch that we were on.
I was surprised he knew about the Delta Smelt problem in California, where farmers are being denied water because of this fish. I wish I could have told him all they need is $1000 to build a fish farm to raise the fish to replenish them, and then the farmers could have their water.
As he had done at other events, Trump even paused for someone who needed a medic at this event. Like I said, going to rallies is not easy, especially for people with pre-existing conditions and older people and everyone that I’ve been to I’ve seen people needing medical attention.
He also addressed the horrible crime in California and how he would ensure cops had the funds to do their jobs. He also said we would not have a woke military and played the commercial that was played at the J.D. Vance rally that was posted here on Trumpinator Times already.
Next, he talked about putting America First and making the vote too big to rig by getting everyone out to vote. Then he concluded, in the usual Trump fashion, to Make America Great Again.
Then, as the YMCA and the party feeling finished everyone walked to the exit in the back of the field. Near the edge of the exit, there were all these merchandise booths, and I ran into the people I stood in line with in the beginning, not just one group, but three groups of people that I saw early in the morning, out of all those people. So neat how that happened and I was glad I had people to talk to again.
Here’s the sad part. They were organized for us to get there, but not organized at all for us to get back and we all felt stranded. The bus stops were dark, and the crowd was all herded through the same area; it was so crowded it was dangerous, and an older man went down, but a medic got to him right away again. I told him just like I told another medic that day that for heat exhaustion, pour the cold water on the artery on the neck so it goes straight to the heart, which will cool the person off faster as the heart pumps that blood to the whole body and that older man had a smile on his face after that which made me think that I was supposed to be there at those two moments today for a reason to help people survive the heat. That happened when I went to the Trump Rally in Tucson, which unfortunately I did not make it in time to see Trump like many others the venue was full at that small music hall.
The hard thing was that there were no signs for which bus line we were supposed to stand in, and the police told us to go one way and then the next, and I must’ve walked over a mile back and forth, and elderly in their walkers and canes were told the same. It took four hours, I’m not kidding, to catch a bus back to the lots, which were too far to walk to. So I didn’t get to my car until 11 at night. That’s how unorganized the event was to get the shuttle bussed. Some people called Uber, but I opted to wait in line. I had almost a three-hour drive after this and got home at 2:30 in the morning.
So that’s how tough it is to go to some of these rallies in the desert heat. If you are elderly, don’t expect to catch a golf cart ride the whole way. They did in the beginning, but in the end, seniors were left to walk, and as a former caregiver for older people in my family, it made me sad to see. I know that it was not Trump’s fault, it was some California organizers that got things mixed up and they just left the Sheriffs to do crowd control which is not really their job, they should have had event staff telling the crowd where to go.
Then, the next day, I saw someone was caught with guns and stuff, and the news reported it was a 3rd assassination attempt thwarted, but that’s not true. The guy turned out to be a Trump supporter, and then I heard him speak out in a video saying there was a mix-up with the Sheriff’s understanding that he was giving him a courtesy notice, which wasn’t understood. It seems like he should have just left his arms at home in this case because California has so many laws I don’t even know about for gun regulations and storage. I’m not sure he did anything wrong; it seems like a big mistake based on his interviews and he like many of us were not feeling well in the hot desert heat which can be deadly.
So that was it. Go to these events at your own risk. Don’t go if it is too hot and you don’t have ice and water. I drank so much water that day and poured so much ice water on myself that I lost count.
